Way back in the late 1990's, Alpha Blue Archives was a relatively new cult film specialist selling rough copy versions of adult classics produced from the late 60's to the mid 80's. They advertised in magazines such as Cult Video and Psychotronic Video during a time when pornographic roughies were rising to prominence on cult websites. The only methods possible to obtain their deprave material was to give them a call and expect to receive an innocuous looking package within the next few weeks. Once opened, you eagerly seized your deprave video tape to see what all the fuss was about - and the fuss was amorously justified for the most part. But it wasn't until the early 2000's that Alpha Blue Archives became a website supplier releasing various compilation DVDs such Big Tit Superstars and Sadistic Seventies. In the year 2004, they began releasing feature films onto DVD and tended to include an abundance of extras in consolation for the poor picture quality many of these films found themselves in. They released 10 feature films on singular DVD that ranged from the satanic horror film The Devil Inside Her to the sadomasochistic Story of Joanna. It was not until October 2004 that they began releasing box sets featuring hours upon hours of depraved material. The first box sets were The Shaun Costello Collection and The Avon Dynasty: 1980's. In following year of 2005, Alpha Blue Archives released The Joe Davian Collection, The Sick Seventies Collection, Brutal Underground 1 and 2, and Satanic Sickies 1 and 2. The History of Rape box set was released at the tail end of June 2006 and comprised of four DVDs containing all four of the notorious History of Rape loop compilations. Each box set released by Alpha Blue Archives contains enough viewing material to take up most of your day. So if you want to quench the compulsive thirst compelling you to witness sick cinema at its very best then pick this mean gem up now and prepare to be shocked, aroused, or cracked with laughter. There are some diamonds among this brutal underground collection of roughies, and equally some crap.
Each of these films feature some sort of predicament and humiliation of a character - male and female - that the films wish to convey in totality. You get themes of rape, torture, bondage, S&M, whipping, white slavery, degradation, incest, bizarre cults, abduction, drug taking, etc. But I will be hastened to add that all the footage found within this box set consists of consensual acts, as one can quite easily perceive some of the depravity on the television screen as genuine when watching this DVD. The acting during the scenes of abuse and exploitation is rather well acted and if these scenes were in any way ever to be found genuine in their degeneracy they probably would have not been released. The blood and bruising on the majority of the victims (male and female) in this box set is evidently faux.
The ostensible verdict of Meese Commission and meager studies conducted by various police jurisdictions into these adult films have brought forward the attention of only one adult film that was thought to be snuff. That film was a 5-minute loop called Vampira that featured cow's intestines rather than human intestines being gutted from a victim. Fake as this pornographic loop may be, there is anecdotal evidence to suggest that there maybe snuff films floating around, but not on the Internet and definitely not in the regulated porn industry. In the U.S. vs Schmeltzer, the defendant showed footage to a witness portraying protracted abuse of young girls. Schmeltzer also showed footage that he described as a snuff film. The film was of an Asian female being kidnapped, mutilated, and subsequently murdered. I don't know about you but I feel the d�j� vu of Guinea Pig rising before my eyes. However, Schmeltzer did allude to numerous snuff films in Mexico. Anecdotal evidence aside, the nearest we have ever came to unearthing a snuff film underground was the nine 'squish' videos seized by Scottish police in 1998. These short videos feature scantily clad women crushing an assortment of animals and frogs beneath their high-heels. Authorities have speculated that these videos have been in existence since 1996.
No snuff films or genuine abuse here - just simulated sexual activity.
Now I'm sure you've noticed by now that you've just begun reading a very lengthy review and you'll probably want an explanation on why it is so long. First of all, this DVD box set contains 13 films spread over 4 DVDs. Secondly, I didn't want to write a review about this box set by describing each film in a few short sentences because I believe that would have been insufficient in provided you with a palpable idea of what these films are about. Hence I decided to watch each film individually and write down a miniature review. After watching each film, the reviews added up and thus became one protracted review. I do apologise for this, but I thought if I were to write this review in any other way I would be actually granting this box set an injustice. I have also included occasional spoilers and lengthy descriptions of sex scenes. I find it difficult sometimes to write reviews for classic adult films because I tend to vacillate between writing a review concerning a decently plotted film with few sex scenes and then writing a review concerning a film with modest storylines at best that predominately contains a mound of sex scenes instead. Most of the films provided on this box set contains a mixture of both, so what I have done is illustrated the storyline of each film to a certain point with descriptions of various sex scenes to give you a flavour of what each film is about.
So let's begin with our profound investigation into this deprave box set that Alpha Blue Archives have granted us and see what perversion we have on display. The technical word for perversion is 'paraphilia,' which literally means 'abnormal love.' Paraphilia is littered throughout this box set with nothing much left to the imagination. Get your barf bag and your right hand ready. You just might need them.
DISC ONE
We kick things off with this orgy of depravity with the exploitation gem, Invitation to Ruin. This box set could not have begun with a better, or more corrupt, film. Invitation to Ruin is so much more than just a hardcore adult film. Exploitation and violence is rampant throughout and even torture is inserted towards the climax. Invitation to Ruin was shot in 1968 as a softcore sexploitation feature during the era when softcore sexploitation was at its peak before the incipient tsunami of hardcore pornography would soon render the softcore genre a vestige of its former glory. Invitation to Ruin was re-released in 1975 under the title 'The Invitation,' promising contemporary viewers of the film graphic hardcore sex inserts in the erotic tradition of the Marquis De Sade. This hardcore version of the film was shown among the trillion other roughies inside adult theatres and shocked audiences with its added scenes of corruption and vice.
Lieutenant Harris is on the hunt for a pick-up artist called Jerry Slone who is suspected to have murdered a bar owner called Ernie Pulaski. An Interpol investigator believes that he has the key in locating the Jerry Slone and bringing him to justice for ruining the lives of many women and the murder of Ernie Pulaski. Lieutenant Harris begins telling the Interpol investigator about what they know of Jerry Slone so far.
During the discussion, we discover that Jerry Slone had moved from Florida to L.A and was seen inside one of Ernie Pulaski's bars with a woman he had just begun having a relationship with. One of Ernie's part-time bodyguards shortly interrupts the proceedings between Slone and his girlfriend and declares in threatening manner that the boss wishes to see Slone immediately.
Ernie Pulaski is a foreboding man whose voice strikes a particular resonance to the characters of the Goodfellas. He sounds like a guy you wouldn't want to fuck with as he means exactly what he says. Ernie offers Slone the chance to work with him after Slone states that he barely survives by hustling dope. Ernie explains how he is in the sex business; alluding that his girls will do anything the customers want them to do. He only explains briefly that he conditions them before becoming sex slaves, and when Slone enquires by what he means, Ernie leaves the answer hanging in suspense and away from vulnerable ears - simply passing that Slone himself will find out eventually. He tells Slone that he will be a talent scout, looking for girls who have the right body and look, getting close to them and ascertaining whether they have any family members who will raise a big fuss if one of their relatives ever happens to disappear. Ernie offers Slone $2500 a week and an extra $1000 for every girl he picks up. The offer is too much to resist. Slone joins Ernie's sadistic network of white sex slavery.
Slone begins to entice women into his grasp almost immediately. He oozes charm with which women seem unable to resist. They continuously fall for him, becoming lured into sexually activity with him by his angelic facade as he invites them back to his apartment. Within days, Slone has them individually eating out of his hands before finally expressing how much in love he is in with them. He then subsequently proceeds to drop a bombshell on them by explaining how he has to leave town for a while. He gives the women a choice on whether they want to leave with him or stay behind. Most of them accept his invitation to leave with him and Slone consequently has an entourage of Ernie's pals dispatched to pick the women up at their home. The women invariably fall for this ruse like proverbial lambs to the slaughter. They would never know of Slone's devious complicity with the slavery ring until the very moment they are kidnapped on doorstep of their own home. That is when the depravity really begins�for them and for us.
Invitation to Ruin becomes incredibly graphic when Slone descends into the dungeons beneath the white slavery ring headquarters. The dungeons possess several women held captive behind closed doors, and we discover that this is where Ernie Pulaski conditions his women into becoming lascivious sex slaves. As Slone peers into the many rooms of Ernie Pulaski's sadistically complex network of dungeons, his eyes are appalled by the many methods of torture devices used on the vulnerable victims. The dungeon is run by Mama Lupo; a heavy-set woman with a vicious mentality that procures heinous pleasures from whipping tied-up women with chains and penetrating their exposed genitals with heated blades. Some of these scenes are genuinely shocking and are accentuated by the fact that the dungeons are dark and malicious. You can practically feel the dirtiness of Mama Lupo's dungeon seeping into your flesh!
The plot escalates into a throttling climax of murder, betrayal, and the lieutenant hunting down Slone for his involvement in white slavery and the possible the murder of Ernie Pulaski. Does Lieutenant Harris eventually capture Slone, or does Slone remain eternally elusive?
Invitation to ruin surprised me with its good and convincing story of a white slavery ring whilst also satisfying my appetite for depraved exploitation. The picture quality of the film was, to quite candid, not in a good condition. Glitches and red spots were constant throughout the entire film, but considering that Invitation to Ruin was next to impossible to purchase on video before this DVD release, you should be thankful that the uncut version of the film is the one provided. However, I rather enjoy the picture quality of these films. It they were ever to become re-mastered onto DVD they would instantly lose their illicitness and that would not be a good thing. The audio is average at best. Every sound is easily heard, but you have to pay extra concentration during some of the dialogue.
When Invitation to Ruin was originally released back in 1968, it had numerous taglines that were utilised into coaxing the viewer into seeing the film.

If there was one disappointment I had regarding Invitation to Ruin, it was not seeing the voluptuous blonde-haired woman pouring the drinks at Ernie's bar towards the beginning participating in a hardcore sex scene. Other than that, Invitation to Ruin thoroughly deserves its status as a roughie and perhaps the best film on this box set. 10/10
Here it is - the film that is rumoured to feature the one-and-only Linda "your mother sucks cocks in hell" Blair. Word has been going around on cult websites that sell notorious exploitation and adult films that when Linda Blair wasn't spewing green puke or being raped by a broom handle, she took part in rough adult films. Of course, that's a load of rubbish, but it is this rumour that has persisted in erecting Vicious Virgin the cult reputation it has amassed today.
Now I can tell you here and now that Linda Blair does not star in Vicious Virgin. You do, however, get a look-alike of her, but whilst the contours of her face in the dark shadows can make one perceive her as Linda Blair, the Linda Blair look-alike is much older than the real Linda Blair, and all assumptions on whether it is her is immediately dashed when the look-alike walks into the light for us to see. Vicious Virgin was made around 1976, and if it did star Linda Blair she would have been aged 16 or 17 - basically underage to star in adult films.
The concept of Vicious Virgin is centred on a rich bastard who invites 3 BDSM enthusiasts into his home to whip and abuse his daughter or wife into having sex for the first time. I cannot tell whether it is his wife or daughter who needs the sadomasochist treatment because the audio during the introduction is awful. The daughter/wife (the Linda Blair look-alike) soon walks into the living room and begins ordering the 3 BDSM enthusiasts around the house. Vicious Virgin is an interestingly petite film that has relied heavily upon pandering as a porno supposedly starring Linda Blair, which can at times be a rough ride. Most of the whipping appears off camera, suggesting that the whipping wasn't exactly real, although the screams of Holly seem genuine.
The picture quality is in a rather poor condition and the audio is even worse. It may not be the greatest film quality wise, but rough sex and bondage raises Vicious Virgin from depths of lameness. 7/10
Kinky Perversion is a brief film with a title that pertains more to the degeneracy on screen than perhaps any other film in this box set.
We begin the film with what appears to be a journalist conducting an interview inside a brothel. He interviews a slender black-haired woman clothed in black lingerie with ornate animal fur swathed around her throne. The Madame talks into the camera as though what we are seeing is a sex documentary about perverted and kinky pleasurable goings on inside a brothel. Once the journalist has paid his fee, the Madame escorts us around the brothel on a voyeuristic tour of kinky perversion.
Throughout the entire short film, we are taken to a total of four rooms inside the brothel with each room secreting the perverted fantasies of customer's away social condemnation. (The next four paragraphs contain detailed spoilers)
The first room conceals a butch and masculine man with a moustache being dominated by a dominatrix. The male masochist is found with his hands tied above his head and the dominatrix flagellating and berating him with invectives. The masochist begs to be cut down, but the dominatrix will have nothing of it. Instead she proceeds to use a sharp knife to cut the masochist from his underwear, revealing a bulbous erection begging to be served; but before the dominatrix serves his erection with a blowjob, she coerces the masochist to give her clitoris a nice stimulating licking. Who needs a hard dick that is on borrowed erection time when you can stuff yourself with a hard and extra long hotdog, except the hotdog wasn't ordered to be eaten but to�well, you get the idea. I didn't know that hotdogs were so flexible that they could fill the two lower orifices of a female. You learn something knew every day, but I don't believe I'll be visiting KFC any time soon. Any hard-on I had up to this point ran away like Linford Christie shitting lightning bolts. The scene does have the occasional penetration and ostensible screaming orgasm, but no ejaculations. The classical music score was an interesting insertion that actually endowed this scene with impeccable humour. Who would've believed that the tunes of a violin string dances to the same beat as a thrusting hip?
The Madame then makes her third appearance by severing this debauched scene and proceeds to lead us further down the hall to the third room. She directs us through a misty ingress wherewith a threesome is beginning to take place on a double bed. A fair-haired and alabaster, but delicious, nubile woman is lying on her stomach with two males massaging her back. One male is black and the other is a bearded 70's hippy. Foot-licking aficionados will go orgasmic during the next sequence as the bearded man licks between the woman's clean toes whilst the black dude flicks his tongue between her spread-eagled legs. The contrast of skin colours during this erotic oral scene was cock-grabbing stuff, and a tender jazz score accompanies us with our voyeurism. Kinky Perversion is an interesting little film when you consider that it is quite common for prostitutes to dress-up as somebody else during encounters with their clients. It is only then that their clients touch and abuse the women in what is quasi-necrophilic fantasy play. Putting this into consideration, Kinky Perversion may be fiction, but the perversion on screen can be construed as reconstructions of actual events that do take place. The picture quality isn't crisp, but it isn't bad either. There is the occasional glitch and colour fade, but, all in all, Kinky Perversion is played in fine condition. The sound could have been in much better shape, but everything is easily heard once you pay attention to the mumbled voices. The musical score could not have been more flawless. 8/10
DISC TWO
Pit of Perversion is an interesting, even funny, concept of betrayal and forced sex slave conditioning. It has a very sixties feel to it with an abundance of sixties' music to entertain you during the sometimes tedious sex scenes. This is one porn film your parents might like.
Ken and Sharon are the foremost characters in Pit of Perversion. As the film commences, they engage in some pre-work fucking. Ken wants to go to work and leave Sharon alone with her eager desire, but Sharon eventually coaxes Ken into staying behind for an hour to create some gritty seventies hardcore sex. Sharon moans in ecstasy as she is rode by Ken to delirium on the waterbed.

The plot continues to transcend down the road of sex domination and slavery as Ken and his pals watch an innocent man forced to fuck one of their sex slaves. We discover that Ken and his pals are committing these perverse acts behind closed doors in an attempt to evade the police, but how long can they keep it hidden, and at what price?
Pit of Perversion is one of the many adult films from the "decade that style forgot" which deals with domination and sex slavery. The sex scenes are gritty and rather tedious in turning-on the viewer. This, however, is only aided by the incredibly meagre condition the picture quality finds itself in. There are permanent glitches throughout and occasional colour fading. The incidences of colour fading sometimes depict a red screen for fleeting moments that interrupts the projection of the film. Although the audio is rather lucid in places, it occasional disappears altogether and we are left with the characters talking on the screen but without any discourse emanating from their mouths. The music, on the other hand, is vibrant and appears as though it's raring to party sixties style. If it wasn't for these faults, Pit of Perversion would not only be more coherent and fluent in what it's endeavouring to convey, but the film would be far more enjoyable to watch. Pit of Perversion has evidently been neglected over the years and this version of the film on the Brutal Underground box set is obviously the best you're going to get. It is disappointing, but any lingering disappointment is eradicated completely with the next film we have eagerly waiting to see on this Brutal Underground box set. 7/10
Biker Slavegirls is what appears to be a late 70's production. It has the feel and aesthetic charm of an adult film with a large quantity of money invested into it to make the film appear erotic. Not only that but it is also perhaps the most erotic film on the entire Brutal Underground box set.
We begin with a voluptuous and curvy woman called Marilyn wearing red attire, looking sexy and lying seductively on her bed inside a dimly lit bedroom. She is watching a stag film on her video recorder featuring a butch, hairy-chested man shafting a woman. Marilyn reaches over towards the drawer beside her bed and brings into view a small parcel. She reads the brief birthday card included with the parcel and hopes that whatever is inside isn't another pair of earrings. She opens the parcel and is surprised to discover a pair of silver Japanese balls. She opens her legs and proceeds to insert them into her pussy! Marilyn is then handcuffed to biker's bike and taken to his garage. Marilyn recounts that she wasn't scared for one bit regarding the precarious situation she found herself in, and when they arrive at the biker's dimly lit garage, she is stripped from all her clothing - except her leopard pants - and is used in highly-charged erotic ways.
Incidents take a turn for the worst when Marilyn refuses to give the biker a blowjob after she is handcuffed to his bike. Her fervent declining aggravates the situation even more. Biker Slavegirls is charged with such intense erotica that I couldn't help but watch the film again afterwards. Marilyn's screams are authentic and her orgasms are genuine. The picture quality is greater than every other film on this box set. The garage scene is beautifully lit and lends an erotic atmosphere when Marilyn is whipped and penetrated inside the garage. This scene is not exploitive at all, but sensual and coarse. An excellent feature that clocked in at 52 minutes. The sound is perfect. 10/10!
Cult of the Scorpio is perhaps the dullest roughie on this box set. The sex is neither erotic nor rough, and the plot is average at best.
We begin with an innocent-looking blonde walking through the city nightlife contemplating her thoughts with a box concealing a diary in her arms. She is on her way to visit a detective who she believes is the only person that can help her. This opening scene is interspersed with the detective she is on her way to see doing a randy sex workout with a woman on a sofa inside his apartment. Both the woman and the detective have a black Scorpion tattoo on their stomachs. The detective is quite hairy and has that contemporary biker look that was popular in the 70's, and the woman happens to be your normal and everyday female from the 70's. When the detective shoots his load onto the scorpion on the woman's belly, he gets down a licks it up whilst the blonde woman walking the city streets with the box in her arms enters the room. The woman the detective just fucked shoos off immediately. The blonde is quite clearly in a state of distress in which the detective attempts to calm her down by telling her to reveal what the problem is.
The blonde, it seems, is on the search for her missing half sister. She explains in detail to the detective that when she went up into the attic of her home in search of a mirror to refurnish, she discovered a peculiar box which contained a cluster of dildo's, strap-on's, and a diary hand-written by her half sister. The diary describes in detail about the half sister's dabbling with an underground cult, something to do with a scorpion. The detective examines the box's contents with happy amusement over the various sex devices seen inside. He orders the blonde to read the contents of the diary, even if it means her becoming more distressed.
The blonde becomes increasingly upset over reading the debauched details inside the diary, and thus the detective comforts her by coaxing her into giving him a blowjob. She then gets pounded from behind whilst pleading to the detective that what they're doing is wrong. After the detective showers his salty cargo over her back, he reassures her that he and the blonde will find the cult of the scorpion together. Does the tattoo of the scorpion on the detective's belly suggest that he himself knows of a cult about a scorpion?
Cult of the Scorpion is the dullest film on the box set. The picture quality is in a bad state with frequent glitches and occasional colour fading, but it certainly isn't as bad as some of the VHS copies wandering around. The audio is clear for the most part. Cult of the Scorpion is a dark and gritty '70s porno that is accentuated by the dark and gritty picture quality and average look of the cast members. The acting is simply ordinary. 5/10
It's not often I admit my bewilderment and astonishment of seeing an adult film that has succeeded in making me wonder what the hell I have seen. Cowgirls in Chains is one of those rare gems of a motion picture that has succeeded. It is a peculiar adult film that is hard to describe in words. The plot is shockingly ambiguous, and the first half of the film is completely and utterly different when compared to the latter half. You do not get many adult films of this nature and some might regard that as fortunate. But nevertheless, Cowgirls in Chains provides some entertainment and copious laughter depending on your sense of humour. Let's go into more detail. (Substantial spoilers)
The first half begins with a male bondage connoisseur called Tim in the company of a sophisticated-looking man called Aeron at what appears to be a Texan rodeo. The bondage connoisseur compliments Aeron on his handsome and charming sophistication during a discussion about the local girls. The bondage connoisseur is on the lookout for some pretty females, and he believes that the rodeo is the best place to look. As the film continues down the path of elongated degeneracy, you will discover that the bondage connoisseur has a valid point.
The bondage connoisseur and Aeron, dressed up in cowboy-like attire, amble up into the forest on the hills above the town to escape the jovial atmosphere of the rodeo. It is high summer and the suns rays bathe the green land with warmth and brightness. Both Aeron and the bondage connoisseur weave through the forest on the lookout for a young girl the bondage connoisseur has a fixation for. They soon catch up with the curvy brunette as she rides through the forest on the back of her pony. She eventually becomes tired and lethargic and ties the pony to a tree. What followed was a shocking surprise, as I was not expecting semi-bestiality footage on what is a brutal underground collection of adult films with debasing textures.
The brunette proceeds to rub her breasts and genitalia all over her little pony while the pony looks on minding its own business, probably thinking of grass to eat. The two cowboys, Aeron and the bondage connoisseur, watch from a distance as the brunette fingers her pussy in the presence of her pony. There is no actually bestiality footage per se, but the footage itself was a genuine surprise for an adult film that one wasn't expecting to contain semi-bestiality footage. The film from this moment on stinks with degeneracy, irrespective of what the second half has to offer.
Both Tim and Aeron strip off beneath the green foliage before gently and confidently striding over to the brunette leaning against her pony. The brunette is not surprised in the slightest at the sight of her visitors, and, in fact, appears rather excited at the prospect of shagging these two cowboys in the wilderness away from the rodeo.
The sex scene that followed wasn't bad and was much better than I expected. I do feel sorry for the pony though, as I'm sure it wasn't expecting having it's back and neck used a fuck bed for various sex positions and blowjobs.
The next scene is the one in which the entire film takes a u-turn and manoeuvres down the avenue of bondage fantasy. We once again meet Tim the bondage connoisseur, this time giving some advice to a man called Jason about the pleasures of bondage. The man whom Tim is giving advice to complains of turning women off when he confesses to them his fantasies of dominating woman in bondage. He describes how all the women he has ever confessed to have ran away. It appears that the man possess an irritating demeanour that intimidates women during the concept of participating in bondage. The bondage connoisseur then introduces Bonnie, a girl-next-door female blonde who will gladly be the female submissive to Jason in his bondage fantasy.
Bonnie then has her hands tied together above her head as Tim provides educational advice on how to create a bondage fantasy. The two gentlemen gently seduce Bonnie as they stroke her breasts and nipples. Tim even gives Bonnie oral sex as Bonnie's legs are separated by rope. Bonnie is left standing with her legs apart and hands tied above her head as things get hot and heavy.
After ten minutes of gentle kissing and stroking of Bonnie's flesh, her breasts are tied and twisted into uncomfortable positions by rope wrapped around her chest. Despite being more of a softcore bondage instructional manual than a roughie, Cowgirls in Chains certainly grants amazement and perversion, especially when putting the first scene of the film into consideration. The picture quality was sharp and crisp when compared to most other films on the box set. The sound was equally complementary and provided an all-round enjoyable film for you on your lonely nights. But that poor, poor pony�

Dungeon of Lust stars one of the greatest female adult performers of all time. Annette Haven is her name and big budget sex is her game. Annette has starred in many of the greatest adult films and even proved she can act in a good number of them, especially in the 1977 when V The Hot One, Reflections and Barbara Broadcast became instant classics that are still highly regarded today. What's fascinating is that Annette Haven was a staunch feminist who claimed numerous times that she would not participate in an adult film that features violence towards women. One film in particular stands out in her prolific adult film career as featuring graphic violence and perversion and one that has become the epitome pornographic roughies. Femmes Desade is the film and Dungeon of Lust perhaps could be regarded as another. Although I'm slightly dubious whether Dungeon of Lust deserves its status as a roughie, Annette Haven, with her lithe and slender figure, grants some cock-grabbing moments, giving Dungeon of Lust an exigent incentive for us to watch.
Annette Haven plays the part of Jean Wagner, a glamour model who falls carelessly into a white slavery ring. Bill and Morgan discuss on whether Jean will bring in a good price. It seems that Morgan is not content unless his victims are tight vaginally and unused. These films are entertaining to watch and are principally nothing like the eroticism found in the original Story of O. Having said that, Nicole, the Story of O, provides some interesting moments, which bestow the film roughie status. RATHER TO INDULGE IN THE FANTASIES OF A VERY REAL PART OF LIFE. This warning, however, is a tad over the top. Nicole, The Story of O does feature many perversions, but it's filmed in such a way that the perversion on screen isn't shocking. It might have been shocking to see back in 1972 when it was filmed, but nowadays when there are far more graphic roughies and sadomasochist films available, Nicole, The Story of O is simply run of the mill in the shocks department.

It's not that you cannot see all the sex scenes and perversions on display in lucid detail, but the very poor quality that the film renders some scenes languishing in darkness, such as the scene when Madame Claudine masturbates a male member to ejaculation inside Nicole's mouth. After this scene you are left wondering whether there was actually an ejaculation inside Nicole's mouth despite the orgasmic tremors of the lucky man, but when Nicole rears her head from the shadows you do see fluid around her mouth, but this could easily be saliva. The film has constant glitches and the occasional jump-cut that doesn't really affect the atmosphere of the film. Nicole, the Story of O is simply an adult film that finds itself in a poor state during many years of neglect, although the sound quality is in rather robust condition considering the grainy picture quality that accompanies it.
Nicole, the Story of O is a wonderful adult roughie that possesses some genuine surprises along the way. The picture quality may be rated 3/10, but the film itself is highly rated as 10/10. Excellent acting, decent sex scenes, expressive bondage, and a fantastic score raises Nicole, the Story of O from the depths of dissatisfying sentiment which the picture quality alone would have granted it.
Secret Desire is one of the better-known pornographic roughies that Alpha Blue Archives have included on this box set. The film itself elicits long forgotten infantile memories of darkened attics; spooky-looking men that your parents warned you about, and the ubiquitous warnings of "don't go in the house!" Secret Desire is a very enjoyable adult roughie that actually attempts to harness the aura of frightening houses and utilizes it into creating disturbing atmosphere of dread.
The film begins with the idyllic view of what appears to be the hills of Northern California, a place of golden and tranquil beauty and incessant sunny days, attesting to the huge increase in population during the 1970's. A narrator introduces the beginning of Secret Desire by paying complementary sentiment to this glorified US state. After all, California has something for everyone: a temperate climate all year round; a massive metropolis that caters to the aspirations of every man and woman striving for fame and fortune across the globe; mountainous scenery and sandy beaches packed with Baywatch-type women; farms and citrus groves that employ underpaid migrant workers from Mexico; and money leaving trails of stink on Rodeo Drive. But, of course, California has a darker side that the gullible people of this planet refuse to acknowledge; either that or we secrete this tenet of information from our conscious minds in fear of having that dark side of California erasing our utopian views of what we want to believe this golden state is like. This dark side is never mentioned in brochures. Who would want to advertise some of the world's most notorious serial killers such as the Freeway Killer, the Koreatown Slasher, the Southside Slayer, the Candlelight Killer, the Sunset Slayer, the Trash Bag Killer, the Night Stalker, and the Orange Coast Killer, etc? Oh, and one cannot forget the shocking and horrific homicide of The Black Dahlia; cut completely in half with her mouth slashed from ear to ear and dumped beside an suburban sidewalk back in 1947. No official study has been able to explain the disproportionate number of serial killers attestable to the secreted dark side pertaining to this wonderful state. William Bonin and Vernon Butts, Fernando Cota, Harvey Glatman, The Manson family, Patrick Kearney, Thor Christiansen, Randy Kraft, Kenneth Bianchi and Angelo Buono, all invoke terrible nightmares that are still felt today. California is often described as the psychopath central of the world, or at least it was back in the 70's. That this part of the world is actually accountable for at least 10% of the world's identified serial killers between the years 1950 and 2000 is nothing short of incredible. Monsters do exist, and these legendary serial killers are the evidence.
The bipolar perception that one conjures in regards to California is expressed so succinctly in the narrated introduction of White Slavers. After the narrator brings an end to his short introduction, we are hit across the face with the musical score from Psycho. The score is accompanied with a black-haired female tied to the top of the table inside an attic with her exposed back receiving the ferocious whipping dispensed by a grey-haired psychopath. The psychopath keeps asking where his daughter is. The tied victim is then raped from behind and forced to give fellatio against her will. This sex scene sets a nightmarish precedent when the ejaculation of the psychopath is accompanied with the jabbing violin score of Janet Leigh stabbed to death in Psycho.
Disturbing stuff indeed. Secret Desire invokes the sensation of a horror film.

Back at Bob's house, the jovial atmosphere is strained at the length of Mary's absence. Bob sends his girlfriend in search of Mary and when she too doesn't return, the two men go searching.
Secret Desire is imbued with haunting images of naked females tied up in bondage inside a madman's attic. The score accompanying our bleak descent into the darkened corners of the Californian state heightens the dread that oozes like slime from our television screen. The sex is dirty with sweat and grime, and the pulsating darkness inside the attic elicits infantile fears of the dark that were once long forgotten in antiquity. A fabulous concept, secret Desire even boasts clear picture quality; but as always, the quality itself is rather poor when compared to remastered editions of adult classics. The picture quality actually accentuates the filthiness on screen and the audio is perfect. You might need to take a long hot bath after seeing this beast. 10/10!!
White Slavers rounds off the third DVD of this deprave box set with a performance deserving roughie status. White Slavers was made in 1974, a time when hardcore pornographic roughies began making frequent occurrences inside adult theatres across the United States. The anti-pornography moralists and censorship laws were being smite with an iron fist around this particular time; and in conjunction with the frightening rise of serial killers such as Ted Bundy and Ed Kemper, hardcore pornographic roughies such as White Slavers seemed to capture this grim epoch we call the 1970's and thrust it into our faces whether we liked it or not.
White Slavers evolve around a trio of criminals who sail on a boat in the company of kidnapped co-eds. Once out in ocean midst they rape and abuse the victims until their heart's content. A blonde male delinquent steers the ship into deep recesses of the open sea while his male comrade, who's equally delinquent, unties one of the female co-eds below deck and has his way with her. This male is a black-haired unscrupulous tramp of a human being who has no qualms indulging in his psychopathy. He coerces the unfortunate female into giving him blowjobs while his girlfriend lounges next door, drinking alcohol and fingering her hairy pussy with a titanic smile on her face. His girlfriend is a mature woman with a voluptuous figure packing some weight. Her black hair and lecherous countenance belies the depravity of a perverse woman who procures heinous pleasure in more elevated doses than that of her two male comrades. When she isn't spreading her heavy legs and fingering her juicy opening in clear view of the camera, she is slapping her boyfriend for fucking the kidnapped co-eds and then proceeding to have her own way with them instead.
Despite the grim and filthy debauchery on screen, there are some generally surprising erotic moments. As with most other hardcore pornographic roughies, White Slavers eventually manoeuvres away from the rough sex and exploitation pertinent to the roughie genre and transcends into a tale of escape and survival. When one of the kidnapped co-eds charms the blonde delinquent into orchestrating an escape plan, White Slavers embarks down the predictable conduit of victims escaping from the antagonists and therefore living happily ever after; but this pornographic roughie is never predictable.
White Slavers, despite evidence to the contrary in this review, is simply an average pornographic roughie that evokes a varied mixture of proficient sex scenes and tedious sex scenes. The picture quality, when compared to both the good and bad picture qualities of the other films provided on this box set, is only average at best. All the scenes in White Slavers are rather lucid, but the all-round pictorial texture is in a slightly darkened state. The sound quality is rather robust considering, and the jazzy soundtrack typical of 70's pornographic roughies is rather robust. White Slavers is a decent film worthy of roughie status, but just don't go expecting a masterpiece when settling down to watch it. 8/10
DISC FOUR
Love Slaves is an absolute classic of the pornographic roughie genre. Bob Chinn - a Hawaiian born porno director who directed classics such as Little Orphan Dusty, California Gigolo, and Candy Strippers - directs the inimitable Love Slaves using his unique film style employed to satiate effect.
John Leslie, a man with a prolific career as porno actor and director, plays the role of a cop called Steve Blake who is sent on a mission to find a number of women who have mysteriously disappeared. He shares his home with his sister, a woman whom he deeply cares for due to her vulnerable charms. But unbeknownst Blake, the kidnapped women are still alive and held hostage in some sort of an abandoned warehouse where they are injected with drugs and hypnotized into becoming sex slaves and female assassins. The film is littered with assassinations committed by the brainwashed females. The abandoned warehouse is the home of the Dr. Paul Sevrin and his criminal accomplices, one being Turk Lyon who played the part of a biker rapist in Little Orphan Dusty. As soon as Blake hears of the nefarious scheme, the evil doctor orders the kidnapping of Blake's sister and hypnotizes her into killing her brother. Blake must infiltrate the assassination and slavery ring to not only find the missing females but to protect his vulnerable sister from committing heinous crimes against her will.
Seems like a good roughie, doesn't it, and you would be correct in saying yes. But this version of the film provided by Alpha Blue Archives is disappointing to say the least. I have nothing but respect and admiration for Alpha Blue Archives in their efforts in releasing lost pornographic roughies onto DVD box sets such as this. The quality of the films may be in a rather devalued state, but at least you happen to have the uncut version of these classics provided. I quite find depravity of these films accentuated somewhat by the devalued picture quality they happen to find themselves in. But the version of Love Slaves provided on this DVD is around 20 minutes shorter than the actual length of the film. There are incredibly long jump cuts spread sporadically throughout the film as if somebody has snipped it to pieces. However, you still catch what the film is about and have available entire sex scenes for your viewing pleasure; but you'll find that the kidnapping scenes, one assassination scene, and the final showdown between Blake and the doctor, is missing substantial footage. This is an absolute shame considering how infamous this film has become over the years. Once upon a time you could purchase Love Slaves from cult video websites for $50 - and that was cheap. I would like to delve into and describe the scenes that construct Love Slaves into the exploitation masterpiece it has now become, but I do not see the point. It is still enjoyable to watch, but rather incomplete.
Something Weird Video has released love Slaves in an uncut form on DVD-R format. It is a shame that Alpha Blue Archives included an incomplete version on this box set, as it does tend to lower the allurement of having something in your possession still regarded as taboo and extreme.
The film itself is 10/10, but the condition the film finds itself in is 3/10.
The Chateau, often called Chateau of Discipline, is one hell of a callous film that utterly deserves roughie status. It is the final film on the box set, and after the brilliantly disturbing, but shortened, Love Slaves, I thought The Chateau wouldn't hold up as much and deliver the goods. But not only did it continue the deservedly labelled depravity found within this box set, it also surprised me with its scenes of brutal sex and bondage-themed torture. Straight from the debauched pages of the Marquis De Sade, the sadism from the Chateau made me feel dirty and slimy with sweat - one of those rare films that requires you to shower yourself off afterwards, although you might need a chainsaw to get the filth off this time.
We begin with a drunken excuse for a man wandering the grubby streets, hunting for food and stealing alcohol from black dudes. He talks to us via his thoughts, explaining how he nearly had it all. He confides that he fell in love with a woman called Tracy, a woman that came to the chateau like every other woman in hopes of fulfilling her dreams of fame and fortune. He goes even further, explaining that he is on the run from the authorities while principally concealing the brutal criminal activity that he lauded inside the brutal walls of the chateau. The narration by the drunk suddenly ceases and so the story begins�
Tracy, a delicious blonde wearing high black boots and a sexy red blouse, stops off at the chateau. The chateau is a huge white building surrounded by a wilderness of palm trees as if in an unsuccessful attempt to hide itself from the city in close proximity. Tracy ambles her way up the steps to the grand front door. She is let inside by the baron and is then led into his study. She is interviewed, asked questions about her previous experiences of being a model whilst her body is examined thoroughly by the baron. The baron asks her to take off her clothing. She obliges and soon flees in terror as the baron mauls her pussy and thighs. As soon as she discovers the front door locked, two masked men wearing nothing but black sneak down the staircase to abduct her and take her upstairs where many more women are tied up�
Tracy is handcuffed to a table by the two men who then violate her, rape her, abuse her, slap her, degrade her, and whip her. She screams and pleads to be released, but her cries are ignored and turn-on the masked men even further. They laugh at her. The rapists rough fuck her and attempt to bully her into give them blowjobs. She declines and receives brutal flagellation as punishment. Her screams are authentic and the whipping is brutally real. You can literally hear the sound of the leather slapping her flesh like wet meat.
After the masked men - who are individually named guard 1, 2 and 3 - finish brutalising Tracy, they move on towards the other women already held captive. The women remain hanging by their wrists as they are repeatedly whipped. The depravity of the masked men seems to hold no limits. They force one of the female captives to rape a fellow captive with a painfully looking dildo. Each woman is constantly whipped and raped around the clock, and the masked men never reveal their faces.
Meanwhile, the baron and his sister gleefully watch through singular peepholes in the doors at the brutality within the many rooms of the chateau. They constantly check to see whether the guards are doing a decent job, and if they ever show signs of inertia, they are given a good talking to by the baron's sister.
The plot takes an interesting turn when one of the masked men falls in love with Tracy (the drunken guy from the opening scene). Tracy begs with her life to be released and the masked man promises her freedom after submitting to her incessant pleadings. But while the masked man falling in love with Tracy continues to abuse the women, he conjures up a plan to free Tracy from claws of the slavery ring she is being conditioned into�
Sandy Carey plays the role of Tracy in The Chateau. You will find her in many 1970's porn films and low budget drive-in horrors. Cindy Adams - who plays the role of the sister to the baron - can be found being subjected to bondage galore in Nicole, The Story of O, provided on the previous DVD, and in a main acting role in 1974's Flesh Gordon.
The Chateau is decently acted film with a good twist to boost. The sex scenes are rough and rather uncomfortable to watch. The constant whipping and abuse subjected to the female victims is heightened by their genuine acting of playing a victim; the constantly authentic flagellation is severe and the screaming, although acted, expresses real pain.
The picture quality is superb when compared to other films on the box set, and the audio is ripe and clear. You hear everything from the loud screaming to the wet meaty sounds of the whipping. The Brutal Underground Collection could not have finished with a greater roughie. 10/10!
I must congratulate and pay homage to Alpha Blue Archives in providing us with a depraved box set featuring many films that were once thought never to be released on DVD. The picture quality of some of these films may be in rather poor condition due to decades of arrogant neglect, but they still retain enough filthiness and extremity to provide a perverse viewing experience. There are some classics found within this box set, and some rubbish; but at least you happen to have a variety of films for you yourself to decide what is classic and what is rubbish. What I find classic is what you yourselves may find rubbish, and vice versa - so if I have been too critical in expressing my opinions regarding these films, then please don't let that stop you in purchasing this box set for yourself and then arriving at your own conclusions.
I believe the only critical opinion I have of this box set is the inclusion of Love Slaves. I would rather have had Alpha Blue Archives leave this film aside and include a different roughie that was in a complete condition instead.
The sound quality also varies from film to film. Depending on the source of the material, you could end up with a crystal-clear audio and picture or a scruffy and jumpy viewing experience that requires extra attention being paid to what is being said or seen. This might be regarded as unfortunate to some, but the grubby quality doesn't come without at least lending an even filthier consistency to what you will see in these films. I have constantly said all along that the poor quality actually accentuates the dirt and grime found on the DVDs, reassuring you that what you're watching is still regarded as deprave and illicit as it was three decades ago, and that simply cannot be a bad thing.
The box set does contain extras. On the second DVD you will find a handful of trailers for a variety of films included on this box set. Trailers found on all the Alpha Blue Archive box sets are fantastic to watch because it is fascinating to see how adult film trailers were marketed back in the 1970's. These trailers are an excellent inclusion.
I hope you enjoy these sickening features just as much as I did, and stay tuned for another lengthy review in future. Brutal Underground box set volume 2 appears to have enough wicked material to corrupt our puny brains for the rest of our lives, and I cannot wait to take a peek.
